A safe space for empowering childbirth.
The Birth Cove is an Edmonton-based group providing evidence-based childbirth education. Our instructors are medical professionals with a passion for helping families understand their options and the science behind those options. We also provide CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) style debriefing of traumatic birthing experiences, both for birth professionals and parents.
evidence-guided care
We believe that scientific evidence should provide a solid foundation for care during and after childbirth.
autonomy in birth
We believe birthing people have the right to say what happens to their bodies during and after childbirth.
informed decisions
We believe birthing people and their partners should be able to confidently make decisions that are right for them.
childbirth classes
Through scientific research-based knowledge, our weekend workshop empowers you and your support partner to make decisions and plan for the care of yourself and your baby during childbirth.
We recommend taking this class at 30–34 weeks gestation to ensure you have enough time before birth, but you can also take it earlier or later.
debriefing Sessions
If you experienced or were present for a difficult birth, you might want to talk to someone about it. We offer trauma-informed individual or group debriefing sessions under the CISM model.
This service is for parents, support persons, doulas, medical professionals, and anyone who needs to process a traumatic birth experience.
COVID-19 Update
Because of the current situation with COVID-19, The Birth Cove will continue to provide modified services while following Government of Alberta guidelines.
Childbirth classes are being held in person with physical distancing measures in place.
Debriefing sessions are being held online via Zoom, or in person with physical distancing measures.
